Wondering how to change your appearance in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered? Once you've created an avatar using Oblivion Remastered's extremely expressive character creation sliders, you're technically supposed to stick with that look for the entire game. This is a remaster of a 2006 title, after all!

That said, with a little console command magic, you can adjust your character's hair, bone structure, skin colour, and all those other fine details on the fly. If you're interested, read on - this guide will tell you exactly how to change your existing character's appearance in Oblivion.

How to change appearance in Oblivion

To change your character's appearance in Oblivion, you'll need to use a console command, which will disable achievements. Alas, if you're the type of player who cares about achievements, you'll need to stick with your character's looks for the long haul.

Open the console command prompt by hitting the tilde (~) key on your keyboard. On most QWERTY layouts, this key is located near the TAB and 1 keys. Then enter the following prompt:

showracemenuCopied!

This will bring you to the race menu, where you can edit your character's facial features, body type, and more to your heart's content. When you're finished editing, go to the Overview tab, select Continue, and accept the changes to go back to gameplay.

It's worth noting that changing your race will reset your character's attributes and skills. If you want to get around this, you can manually bring your attributes and skills back to their old values by using the following console command.

player.setav actorvalue #Copied!

Replace "actorvalue" with the name of the attribute or skill you want to raise, and replace "#" with a number. For example, 'player.setav Luck 100' or 'player.setav Blunt 100'.
