Adam's Idiosyncratic Best Of Gamescom 2016 Awards

I'll be telling everyone what I thought of all the games over in Cologne for Gamescom this year, but for you, our most special readers, I'm going to share my Best of Show awards. It's an odd thing, seeing developers and PR people presented with a sticker for their booths by a journalist who particularly enjoyed an appointment. I see it happen a lot and sometimes there's awkward acceptance from the developer, while other times they play along, sticking the award to the side of their booth (hopefully in a line of such things) and posing for photos.

But I'm not sure that any of it matters. When a game can claim to have won over 50 E3 awards, before actually being released, what does a single award mean?

That's why I didn't hand out any awards at Gamescom this year, or any other year. But if I had been giving out awards, here are some that I'd have strongly considered.
