The Eyes Have It: '60s Sci-Fi Shoot-o-Puzzle Albedo

Goofy monsters and puzzles

Albedo: Eyes from Outer Space is a weird-looking game and not just because it's inspired by '60s sci-fi movies, aliens bulging with giant eyeballs, and the name sounds like something I might have seen on Mystery Science Theatre 3000. It somehow combines FPS monster-shooting with adventure game puzzling. And I think at one point in the trailer the chap feeds a giant snail to one of the monsters. And then there's a safety helmet which appears to sprout tentacles. See for yourself.

An "escape the room FPS hybrid" is how publisher Merge describe Z4GO's game, which stars a night watchman caught up in an alien invasion. Yep, he seems to have a double-barrel shotgun to blow away big goofy monsters with squishy eyeballs in their bellies, that's a monster movie all right.

But then he's unscrewing panels and bodging together a replacement power supply with a battery and a spring, picking locks, and watching an ocean sunfish swim through the air. And I have no idea why he dangles a spider from a strand of its silk. I can't quite imagine how this will play, which makes me curious at the very least.

It's coming to Steam Early Access on September 26. Look, moving pictures:
