Amazon just dropped the best Steam Deck microSD card deal I've seen in years

It's our top pick for handheld gaming, so don't miss this discount.

Amazon just dropped the best Steam Deck microSD card deal we've seen in two year, and I wouldn't wait around to upgrade on this one.

The Samsung Pro Plus 512GB microSD Card + Reader is down to $29.99 right now, a sharp drop from its usual $49.99. No catch either, just a solid 40 percent off.

Samsung's Pro Plus card isn't just some random pick either — it's our top-rated microSD card for Steam Deck. It's earned that spot, tried-and-tested by RPS' Tech Editor James Archer.

Moreover, according to CamelCamelCamel, this is also the best price on the microSD card from around in years. The lowest? Just a buck less a couple of years ago. For only a dollar more, this is worth it to upgrade your storage.

Graph showing load and launch times for the Samsung Pro Plus on the Steam Deck.
Aperture Desk Job had an average launch time of 10.9s, and an average load time of 3.4s. Shadow of the Tomb Raider had an average launch time of 14.6s, and an average load time of 16s.

It hits up to 180MB/s read speeds and 130MB/s write speeds, so games install faster, load quicker, and updates don't feel like a punishment for having good taste. Plus, unless Valve pulls a fast one like Nintendo, this will be future-proof for when Steam Deck 2 eventually rolls around.

512GB is also the sweet spot. It's not about picking two games every weekend — it's about having Baldur's Gate 3, Cyberpunk 2077, Hollow Knight, and still leaving room to breathe. This card is A2 rated too, so menus, apps, and downloads actually move. No one buys a gaming handheld to sit through loading screens.

  • Speed: Up to 180MB/s read, 130MB/s write
  • Best for: Steam Deck, ASUS ROG Ally X, Lenovo Legion Go, and other handheld gaming devices
  • Features: Full HD and 4K UHD ready, UHS-I, C10, U3, V30, A2 rated
  • Protection: Water, temperature, X-ray, and magnet resistant
  • Included: Samsung USB reader and SD adapter

Samsung flexes even harder on build quality. This card is water-resistant, temperature-proof, X-ray-proof, and magnet-proof. You could lose it in a puddle, find it a week later, and still boot your save without blinking. (I wouldn't test that, though.)

So, if you're gaming on a Steam Deck, ROG Ally X, Lenovo Legion Go, or anything else that deserves respect, this is the card you want, in my, and RPS', humble opinion.

Note that you can only find this deal via the 512GB + USB reader listing, with the standard Pro Plus page still rocking the microSD for around $8 more. For now, it's also a deal that's exclusive to the US, unfortunately, but we'll keep an eye out for any UK discounts in the coming weeks as well.
