Gwent is the card game from The Witcher 3, harpooned with a kebab stick, lifted out of its parent RPG, cooked over a blazing free-to-play firepit, and served up for two. It’s not too shabby. You take turns playing numbered cards, each trying to have a higher total score at the end of a round. But matches often involve goading your foe to play more cards than they ought to, before “passing” and accepting the loss with a smile, because this is only the first round of three, and they’ve wasted their precious knight, their powerful monster, their gold-plated leader with special ability. The fool! But this is not the only sneaky trick you can play.
