Castlevania 'Em Up Bloodstained Delayed Into 2018

G-g-g-ghost!

Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night [official site], the crowdfunded Castletroid from Castlevania: Symphony of the Night assistant director Koji Igarashi, has been delayed into 2018. They'd been planning a release in March 2017 when when they turned to Kickstarter in 2015, which drew a grand $5.5 million, but now they say they want more time to make it good. Fair enough! Better a good game later than a so-so one sooner.

Igarashi popped on his hat for the announcement and explained:

"Things have been progressing with development for Bloodstained, but between our current production set-up and release deadline, I've realised that at this rate the game may not end up meeting my quality standards. I've decided to add a new development team to the main production and improve our approach so that we can keep the game fully on track for how I envision it."

They're now planning to release Bloodstained in the first half of 2018. He apologised for the delay but said "I'd like to emphasise that I made this decision to absolutely guarantee the game is done right the first time." Sure sure!

How's Bloodstained shaping up? Here's a peek at the E3 demo, which was also given to crowdfunding folks who paid enough. This playthrough comes without commentary thanks to Isaac Ben:
