How to play Connections
Connections is one of the most popular (and challenging) daily puzzle games published by the New York Times (owners of Wordle). The aim of Connections is to group the 16 words of the day into four groups, where each group of four words has a common theme.
For instance, the words "Hook", "Nana", "Peter", and "Wendy" are all Peter Pan characters. Or to take another example, "Action", "Ballpark", "Go", and "Stick" are all words which commonly come just before the word "Figure".
Your job is to figure out what these themes are that connect the various words together - but be wary, because a lot of the time there are deceptive red herring connections placed purely to throw you off! To win the game, you have to find all four Connections without making 4 mistakes. On your fourth mistake, the game is over and the answer is revealed automatically.
Each of the four groups in each day's Connections puzzle is also assigned a different colour, which represents how easy or difficult the Connection is to find. These colours are: Yellow (Easiest), Green (Easy), Blue (Medium), and Purple (Hardest).

What is today's Connections answer?
Here is the answer to today's Connections puzzle on Saturday, 19th April:
- Yellow: Spoken Presentation (Address, Lecture, Speech, Talk)
- Green: Adjectives For A Desert (Dry, Hot, Sandy, Vast)
- Blue: Dog Breeds, Informally (Bully, Chow, Golden, Lab)
- Purple: Represented By Three-Digit Numbers (Cannabis, Devil, Intro Class, James Bond)

Today's Connections was a bit easier than usual for me, despite being somewhat unfamiliar with dog breeds. My brain was just quick to point out 'dry' and 'sandy', which felt worthy of investigating. It seemed a good match together with 'hot', but it took a bit of time to realise it was probably referring to a landscape, and a desert in particular, after which it made sense to add 'vast'.
Meanwhile I was also matching 'lecture' with 'speech' and adding in the rest of the yellow theme. That left me with one 'knowledge' group and one 'hidden words' group, and since I lacked the specific knowledge rquired for the first, I focused on the hiden words instead. More specifically, I was set on finding the logic behind 'James Bond' being there - I searched for action heroes, movie themes, anything spy related... Until I finally thought of 007 and realised the 666 and 420 had been staring me in the face all this time.
Safe to say it took more than 000 minutes to solve this Connections puzzle, but it wasn't the hardest I've faced of late.
