Justice is blind

There's a moment during season 2 of Netflix's animated show The Dragon Prince where a king describes a just society. He explains how a just society can only be seen once we blind ourselves. How we need to pretend we don't yet exist, and are therefore untainted by privileges of class or race or gender. How we need to look past the accidents of our birth, and imagine a world where "the rights and laws and opportunities within the system should stand to protect and empower everyone". I'd mostly been lazily enjoying the Dragon Prince as a kids TV show I could half watch while falling asleep, but this jolted me awake.

He's talking about John Rawls' veil of ignorance!
