New For Old: Old Republic Battle Footage


EA have been busy at Gamescom. Here they are showing what it looks like when a team of eight players go on a mission to stop a dangerous bloke escaping a prison, in Bioware's upcoming space-friends MMO, The Old Republic. Here's four minutes of unedited (but likely heavily rehearsed) in game footage:

Highlights for me are the bit where you see one of the bounty hunters standing still getting shot over and over again, whilst firing back at the turret with his pistol, just like in the films. I could moan about the lightsabres just looking like foam bats, which seems pretty disrespectful treatment of the source material to me, but instead I'll just shut up and play Jedi Outcast when I next want to slice off someone's arms.

Still, if it can deliver the promise of "Numbing minds from the pain", it'll probably be worth the subscription fee, and would represent a decent saving compared to drinking a bottle of rum every evening.

So much pain...
