All Attributes in Oblivion Remastered and how they work
Discover the effects behind all of the main stats in Oblivion
Wondering what Attributes do in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered? In Oblivion Remastered, Attributes function as your character's main stats. They influence your maximum health, magicka regeneration rate, running speed, and more. Needless to say, Attributes are important, and it's necessary to understand them to create an effective build as you tackle all of the challenges across Cyrodiil and the Planes of Oblivion.
This quick guide, which works for both the original version of Oblivion and the remaster, will provide everything you need to know on all of the Attributes in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion.
All Attributes in Oblivion
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion contains the following eight Attributes:
- Strength: Improves the damage dealt with melee weapons (which includes blunt and blade weapon types), hand-to-hand combat damage, carrying capacity (encumbrance), and maximum fatigue.
- Intelligence: Improves your maximum magicka.
- Willpower: Improves magicka regeneration and fatigue.
- Agility: Improves maximum fatigue and ranged weapon damage while reducing the chances of getting staggered (interrupted) in combat.
- Speed: Affects movement speed.
- Endurance: Improves your maximum health at the beginning of the game, your health gain per level, health gain upon sleeping, and maximum fatigue.
- Personality: Improves disposition, making you more likable. NPCs will be more inclined to help you.
- Luck: Improves your chances of winning when gambling in the arena and reduces your chances of falling ill. It also has a small effect on all skills: if your Luck is lower than 50, your skills are less effective, but if it's above 50, all skills gain a bonus.

As they're strongly affected by Attributes, it's also vital to understand your character's three resource bars: HP, magicka, and fatigue. HP, the red bar, is your maximum health. It depletes whenever you take damage, resulting in death if it's reduced to zero. Magicka, the blue bar, is consumed whenever you cast a spell. The amount of magicka consumed varies per spell, with stronger spells usually requiring more magicka. Fatigue, the green bar, determines how much physical action you can take before you become exhausted. This is also referred to as stamina.
