Looking to enter the Shivering Isles in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered? The Shivering Isles is a smaller secondary map which is connected to the main map, Cyrodiil, via a Strange Door. The Shivering Isles, originally the main expansion DLC of Oblivion, has been built directly into the game for the remake, allowing you to enter it more or less immediately after you complete the tutorial.

The Shivering Isles is the domain of the Daedric Prince of Madness, Sheogorath, and home to an extended questline of 15-odd quests involving this Prince. If you're itching to get started, follow this guide to learn exactly how to reach the Shivering Isles in Oblivion.

How to reach the Shivering Isles via the Strange Door

To reach the Shivering Isles map in Oblivion, head to the Strange Door in the middle of Niben Bay, on the east side of the city Bravil. You'll be able to head to this door at any time once you exit the sewers at the end of the game's tutorial section.

Once 24 in-game hours have passed since you finished the tutorial, you will receive a note suggesting that you investigate rumours about an island appearing out of nowhere in Niben Bay. This starts the quest "A Door In Niben Bay", which is the first quest of the Shivering Isles questline. Simply follow the quest marker and you'll reach the island in question containing the entrance to the Shivering Isles.

The entrance itself is very obvious once you reach the island in the Bay: it's a great stone doorway carved in the likeness of the multiheaded Daedric Prince, Sheogorath, who holds dominion over the Shivering Isles themselves. Simply interact with the door to enter the Shivering Isles map.

You can also speak with the two NPCs found near the doorway - Gaius Prentus, an Imperial warrior tasked with guarding the Strange Door; and S'fara, a Khajiit scout who has clearly already been addled by Sheogorath's presence (he is the Daedric Prince of madness, after all).

When you pass through the Strange Door, you'll arrive at an equivalent Door To Cyrodiil on the other side. The first time you make this journey, you'll find the Breton NPC Haskill, the Chamberlain of Sheogorath, who you can speak with to begin the main questline of the Shivering Isles. Haskill will remain your main point of contact for quests and lore relating to the Shivering Isles throughout this questline.
