Oh good, I'm playing it wrong

Fake Geralt and other imposters

My favourite thing about games is breaking the rules. When I was a kid, I redesigned Cluedo so that the whole scenario began before a murder had taken place. One player was the killer and their goal was to create the kind of gory Candlestick, Kitchen, Victim combo that is the start- and end-point for a typical playthrough. It didn't work very well because I could never figure out how to hide the killing from the other players, especially since I wanted one of them to act as the victim. Perhaps I'll figure it out one day. I might need to use a computer instead of trying to repurpose a board.

Many of my favourite videogames have an open-ended structure - whether it's The Sims, Crusader Kings 2 or Dwarf Fortress - that makes playing by my own rules simple enough, but I also enjoy the challenge of repurposing games that are a little more rigid. Here are my tales of fake Geralts, RPG football and cannibal gods.
