Silksong release date confirmed for 2025 in drive-by Switch 2 video

Nintendoes what Team Cherry don't

Hornet strikes a dramatic pose in Hollow Knight: Silksong art.

Hollow Knight: Silksong will release in 2025, according to a showcase reel for Nintendo’s upcoming Steam Decklike, the Switch 2. Imagine dropping release details for a game as hotly, wildly, despairingly anticipated as Silksong in an effing montage video. Because that is what Uncle Mario did.

The game appears in the showcase for a handful of seconds, so there’s not much more to tell, but it’s nice to have something tangible after years of Team Cherry teaser campaigns and fan conspiracies about cake. There were a few more concrete indications that Silksong would grace the Switch 2’s software reveal. Earlier this month, the developers updated the Steam page, changing the copyright date to 2025.

Team Cherry revealed Silksong back at E3 2019. It stars the balletic stilleto-wielding Hornet - a boss from the original Hollow Knight - and takes place in the new kingdom of Pharloom. It's about journeying upward through a realm "haunted by Silk and Song".

Other characters confirmed to appear include the Huntress, "a towering old predator", Grindle, a "common snitchbug", and Seth, an "eternal protector" created in collaboration with a Hollow Knight fan who has now passed away.

More as we get it.
