The Sunday Papers

Is it Sunday? Is it Saturday? Is it Monday? Jumping across eight time zones confuses these things - plus the clocks going back for added brainhurtage. Still - let's keep our eyes directly ahead and maybe we can get through this. What is "this"? Well, it's a list of interesting reading we compiled across this week, which we then publish while trying to not include a link to a pop song that's the most rare of creatures - a piece of John Walker music which is just about danceable.

• This was a pleasant surprise. The Googlereader engineers run a blog, and listed their staff pick favourite feeds. And we're on it! Frankly, we're pleased to be on any list with Dinosaur comics on. Thanks, gametrailers Googlereader!
• Dracko linked to this in the comments thread of last week's Sunday Papers. It's comics blogger Jog on the new Prince of Persia graphic novel. Interesting - not only because Jog is one of the smarter guys on the net writing about comics, but because he's capable of contextualising it properly with the original games.
• Point/Counterpoint. Point: AGM Launcher thinks that PC Gamer US's review of Red Alert 3 is shit. Counterpoint: Dan Stapelton thinks AGM Launcher doesn't know anything about reviews. I enjoyed watching this from the outside - it's certainly more fun than the inside. The former's list of notes for reviewers is a checklist why genre fascists make really bad generalist reviewers - point 7 is dead on, and the rest are either openly wrong or not really that interesting.
• The artist formerly known as CliffyB, CliffyB gets a big proper grown up profile in the New Yorker. Which is quite the thing to see.
• Barry White starts a series where he's looking at old games and playing them today - including the process of actually getting them working. He's starting with System Shock 2, which is one sure way to always get a link from me.
• Talking about old awesomeosity, over at Good Old Games there's a short retrospective interview feature with staff of Planet Moon about the ever-lovely Giants. As a quick poll - what games on GoG would you be interested in seeing us write about?
• Oh - The Telegraph does some notes on game design. Nothing we haven't seen before, but always interesting to see a major organ start pushing in this way.
• Matt & Kim - Daylight.
