WD Black SN850X 8TB NVMe SSD is down to $511.78 at Amazon, making it a slightly less ridiculous price than usual. It's a big difference compared to the usual $879.99 listing, and the lowest we've ever seen according to camelcamelcamel. Sure it's still pricey on paper, but if you’ve been waiting for a reasonably unreasonable amount of storage, this might be it.

The WD Black SN850X was named "the best PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD for gaming" in RPS' best SSD roundup, and for very good reason as well. According to RPS Tech Editor, James Archer, this is an "outrageously" fast PCIe Gen4 NVMe drive with read speeds of 7,300MB/s and write speeds of 6,600MB/s, with models including 1TB, 2TB, 4TB and 8TB options, and it's also PlayStation 5 compatible if you're interested in the console side of things as well.

Game Mode 2.0 software is included for PC users, which optimizes gaming performance. The random read speeds hit 1,200K IOPS, meaning your games, apps, and files will open faster than expected. It’s also using newer BiCS5 flash chips, making it slightly better than its predecessor.

Western Digital backs this SSD with a five-year warranty, which is about as reassuring as warranties get. Whether you actually need 8TB or just like knowing you’ll never run out of space again, this is a solid price for one of the highest-capacity SSDs on the market.

You’ll need to buy a heatsink separately if you plan to pair it with a PS5, but those are easy to find for under $10. If you're in the UK, you can pick the 8TB SSD up for £573.86 (or also consider the 1TB for £69.98). Amazon's Big Spring Sale is also right around the corner on March 25-31, so if none of these deals appeal to you, there's more opportunties to find discounts in the near future.
