Worlds Wot War: Battle Worlds - Kronos

Hexy

Battle Worlds: Kronos has had a quick turnaround, from healthy Kickstarter campaign to finished product. The Kickstarter launched in March, a feature-packed beta for backers was delivered in Autumn and the game will launch on November 4th. The name recalls Blue Byte's Battle Isle series, but as I learned when I spoke to the developers, their game draws inspiration from all manner of turn-based strategy:

...while the name of the game is clearly a nod to Blue Byte’s great series, there is a lot of games we draw inspiration from when it comes to TBS, like Advance Wars or the SSI classics Panzer General, Fantasy General and so on.

Not a bad roster of support units. The latest video shows the multiplayer features, which include hot-seat, cross-platform and asynchronous play. It's looking very solid but I'm not convinced that the chap playing on his iPad in the video is actually on a bus, as the voiceover suggests.

I was hoping to take a look before launch but the days have passed, lost in time, like tears in the eternal British rain.

King Art have this to say:

We’re giving the customers a good large game for their money. We provide free cross-platform multiplayer, a league and – early next year – the free DLC “Trains”, which contains a new campaign and introduces a whole new unit class. We think that’s a pretty good deal. If enough players support us by buying the game legally instead of pirating it, we'll adopt a no-DRM policy as a company policy.
