Yakuza games do middle-aged dude faces really well
Face off
Kiryu is a good man with a very boring face. The lead pair of fists in the Yakuza games are very strong and full of good advice delivered straight to the jaw. But they are attached to Japanese Action Man. A dull and serious-looking toy boy. Despite being almost 40 years old in Yakuza Kiwami 2, Kiryu has no blemishes or wrinkles or even scars from his obscene litany of street fights. This is a man whose face is a permascowl, permitted once a day by an inscrutable code of ethics to smile for exactly fifteen seconds, no more, no less. But you know what? That’s okay, because all his middle-aged man pals (and enemies) make up for it. Their faces are real good.
