YouTube is proof I'm old, and no threat to written words

There's a lot of stuff and nonsense spoken about games criticism/journalism, not least by the people who create it. And one of the most silly repeated claims is that video is replacing the written word. No, it isn't. Even a bit. Even if MTV just idiotically scrapped writers to focus on video, they'll go back. They all do. There's a reason why people are currently obsessed with communicating through Twitter 'threads' rather than voicing the same thoughts to a camera, and a reason why even children trust written news over video news. Video, and of course by that I mean "YouTube", is an accompaniment to writing, a newer thing alongside it. And one I find absolutely bewildering in exactly the way I should.
