How to turn on Guaranteed Assassination in Assassin's Creed Shadows
Here's how to never fail your assassination attempts in AC Shadows
Want to turn on Guaranteed Assassination in Assassin's Creed Shadows? There's nothing more annoying in Assassin's Creed Shadows than sneaking through a castle without any mistakes, creeping up behind a target, and then having them intercept your assassination attempt and force you into a heated battle. This usually happens if you try to kill a target that's much higher level than you. Luckily, just like Assassin's Creed Valhalla, there's a Guaranteed Assassination option available in the menu that goes a long way towards fixing this issue.
If you sneak up behind an enemy and the assassination prompt is red instead of white, this indicates that even if you perform the assassination, it won't work. The enemy will notice and counter you, forcing you into a fight. But with Guaranteed Assassination turned on, you'll be able to instantly kill even these high-level enemies.
With this excellent quality-of-life feature enabled, sneaking up behind someone lets you always kill them with a single stab as long as they don't spot you. In this guide, we'll explain what you need to do to turn on Guaranteed Assassination in Assassin's Creed Shadows.
How to turn on Guaranteed Assassination in Assassin's Creed Shadows
To turn on Guaranteed Assassination:
- Open the Options menu.
- Navigate to the Gameplay tab, and go into Difficulty Tuning.
- Turn Guaranteed Assassination on. The description for this option reads: 'Choose whether successful assassinations automatically kill the target, regardless of their remaining health.'
Make sure that you've recently saved your game or gone through an autosave before you toggle this option. You will need to reload the game to your last checkpoint to apply Guaranteed Assassination.

Once Guaranteed Assassination is activated, enjoy! You can now sneak into an extremely high level castle from the getgo and see if you can successfully kill everyone. That said, it's important to note that Guaranteed Assassination does not make you invincible. You can still get very easily stomped by high level foes if they catch you. That said, if you truly want to feel like a stealthy shinobi, this option changes the game entirely.
