Where to find Jin Dahaad
Jin Dahaad is found exclusively in the Iceshard Cliffs but they don't have a set spawn location. They can appear in the wild but may not be huntable without starting an optional quest. The first time you'll find Jin Dahaad is during the Chapter 3-2 main mission, "Indomitable Spirit".
Jin Dahaad weaknesses

Jin Dahaad's weak points are their mouth and chest. Depending on your weapon, you may want to focus on their chest if you can't easily reach their head. Fortunately, their head, neck, and iceplates are vulnerable to sever and blunt damage.
The element that Jin Dahaad is weakest to is Fire, although physical damage is still the strongest. They're very resistant to Ice so you'll want to avoid using that element.
The best status effects to inflict upon Jin Dahaad are Blastblight and Exhaust. However, all the others are still effective. You should avoid bringing Sonic Bombs and Pitfall Traps since Jin Dahaad is immune to those.
Best weapon and armor to fight Jin Dahaad
Using a Fire element weapon will help you deal extra damage to Jin Dahaad. Although you can make any weapon work in Monster Hunter Wilds, you may struggle to hit Jin Dahaad's head with certain ones. This can make it worthwhile to have a ranged weapon as a secondary or an Insect Glaive where you can vault into the air.
Jin Dahaad regularly deals ice damage so having resistance to that will help. However, Jin Dahaad's armor also provides resistance against Water and Dragon damage. This means you may benefit from those if you can get them. Their special attacks also inflict Frostblight and Iceblight which Bind Resistance, Blight Resistance, and Ice Resistance help against.
If you want to be extra prepared going against Jin Dahaad, you can try to build the Earplugs skill. But, you will need level 2 or 3 to benefit against their strong roar. Having all three Insect Glaive buffs will also help mitigate roars.
Jin Dahaad tips and strategy
Below we'll go into more detail with the main tips and overall strategy you need to beat Jin Dahaad. These tips will help you survive and take advantage of their weaknesses to win your encounter.
1. Destroy Jin Dahaad's iceplates along their ridges.
Jin Dahaad has large iceplates that rise out of their head, upper back, lower back, and tail. Before you can target the large icy ones on their upper back, you'll need to destroy the others first. Getting rid of these will weaken Jin Dahaad's attacks. I'd recommend starting from their tail and working your way towards their head.

2. Use environmental hazards for massive damage attacks.
Part of what makes Jin Dahaad a unique fight is that it takes place in the same three to four zones every time. This means you can take advantage of the same Giant Frozen Pillar Jin Dahaad climbs on. Or the Crumbling Ice Wall, the Brittle Ice Pillars, and even luring a pack of Hirabami in the second area Jin Dahaad flees to. Due to their giant body, you can usually land these attacks more easily than you might expect.
3. Break wounds to stun Jin Dahaad and reach certain body parts more easily.
It's a good idea to break wounds on every monster in Monster Hunter Wilds, but in this case, it helps you reach those iceplates. If you're having trouble hitting a certain one due to your weapon, breaking wounds can stun Jin Dahaad and make them fall over. This creates an opening to break iceplates and deal damage. Between environmental hazards and mounting, you can create wounds.
4. Listen for audio cues warning you of incoming attacks.
Jin Dahaad does a high-pitched audio cue that warns you of incoming attacks like an icy breath attack or a large ice cloud forming around them. Once you hear it, you'll know to get out of the way and avoid getting Frostblight. Otherwise, you'll need Cleanser or a buddy to hit you to get out of it quicker.
5. Pull Giant Ice Chunks down to hide behind and survive Jin Dahaad's one-shot attack.
Once Jin Dahaad reaches the third area, they'll eventually do a long wind-up attack that will make you faint if you don't do the right thing. You'll need to pull down a Giant Ice Chunk and hide behind the wall it creates until their attack is over. If you're in the right spot, you won't take damage over time while it occurs. An easy mistake in the third area is trying to hide behind a wall near the boundary that doesn't protect you.
It may also go without saying, but you shouldn't just use all the Ice Chunks in the area for offensive purposes early on. Save several of them so you can protect yourself from the one-shot attack.
