Indomitable Spirit walkthrough

Indomitable Spirit objectives

  • Talk to Olivia in the Iceshard Cliffs

If you just finished Chapter 3-1, fast travel over to the Iceshard Cliffs Base Camp. Before you speak with Olivia, upgrade your gear first if you need to. You can use the Fire element in this next fight. After speaking with her, you'll still have access to your tent for resupplying, but Gemma won't be available.

Nothing Frozen, Nothing Gained walkthrough

Nothing Frozen, Nothing Gained objectives

  • Listen to Rove
  • Continue toward Suja
  • Repel the Jin Dahaad

Travel to the mission marker to speak with Rove, and then onward toward Suja afterwards. You'll need your Seikret to travel through the following area since it's not traversable on foot. This leads to one of the largest monsters you'll fight in Monster Hunter Wilds. Before you jump down to fight Jin Dahaad, you'll have access to a Makeshift Camp.

You won't be able to cook food here, but you can whip out the Portable BBQ Grill to eat food if you haven't yet. In addition to this, make sure you have everything you need. I recommend Nulberries, Cleanser, Flash Pods, a Shock Trap, Armorskin, and Demondrugs. You'll also need Hot Drinks or Heatmantle Bugs to fight the cold.

Tips for the Jin Dahaad fight

This is another repel hunt. It isn't as long as a normal Jin Dahaad fight, but it's practically the same, otherwise. It takes place over three different areas, each with their tricks to learn. Before we get into that, let's address the Jin Dahaad's armour. Olivia immediately says to focus on their head and forelegs first.

The reason for this is because those areas aren't as armoured as the icy plates on their upper back. Throughout most of Monster Hunter Wilds, unless you let your sharpness drop really low, you'll rarely bounce off monsters. During this fight, however, it'll finally happen if you don't target the Jin Dahaad's weaker parts first.

With that said, most of Jin Dahaad's body is fair game aside from the icy plates. But, you can focus on their mouth and chest for weak points. I recommend dealing damage wherever you can because Jin Dahaad is another foe who can hit you almost anywhere. Unlike Arkveld, they're slower and you'll see many attacks coming - as long as they're not throwing their body around walking into you.

Fighting Jin Dahaad in the first area

The first area of this fight is more of an open arena without much to take advantage of. This gives you a lot of room to run, but not much cover if you need to hide. Due to Jin Dahaad being slow, you'll still have a chance to get away for healing and using items. This area is mostly for learning Jin Dahaad's attacks, since they only change slightly in the other areas.

Certain attacks will feel similar to what you've seen previously. If they're on their hind legs, they're doing a slam down toward you with a large ice explosion. If you're on their side, they can reach you with their forelegs and tail. But if you're targeting their face, you have to watch out for a few different ice breath attacks. One of these has a sound indicator warning you that it's coming.

The same sound indicator triggers when Jin Dahaad discharges an ice cloud around them. Get out of the way to avoid Frostblight and the need to use Cleanser.

Fighting Jin Dahaad in the second area

The second area has a hidden trick that the game only tells you about when hunting Jin Dahaad the next time. There are Hirabami hiding nearby that you'll see on your minimap. They're hanging from above off to the side and you can lure them to trigger a turf war.

Aside from the Hirabami, Jin Dahaad will start crawling on the walls in the more enclosed area. If you're quick, you can use Flash Pods to drop them off the wall. They'll become vulnerable and fall on their side, making it easy to hit specific parts. Also, this second area has a Brittle Ice Pillar you can pull down onto them.

The most important thing you need to know about this area is regarding Jin Dahaad's one-hit kill attack. The game doesn't give you much direction for what to do unless you faint. When the area starts to get really windy and Jin Dahaad builds a large ice wall, you need to create a wall of your own. Fortunately, Olivia will also warn you that this attack is coming.

What you need to do is pull down one of the Giant Ice Chunks in this area and hide behind the wall it creates. One easy mistake to make is using every ice chunk before this attack happens. Another easy mistake is hiding in the back of this area where it seems like you're hidden. This is a lie - if you're slowly losing health, you're not safe. While it is possible to do a Superman dive for invulnerability, it's tough to time right.

Aside from the one-hit attack, Jin Dahaad will climb onto a pillar and repeatedly blast you with their ice breath. You'll need to dodge it until the pillar starts to crumble. This is a sign that you can now pull it down. If you miss the chance to do this, you can still drop it on top of them afterwards.

Once you've repelled Jin Dahaad, Chapter 3-2 is complete. Continue onto the Chapter 3-3 Monster Hunter Wilds walkthrough for more help. Or you can return to the walkthrough hub for all of our guides.
