Dawn Breaks walkthrough

Dawn Breaks objectives

  • Talk to Nata

Once you've recovered from your back-to-back monster fight, it's time to prepare for the next one. Before you speak with Nata, upgrade your gear and resupply. Bring Nulberries, traps, Armorskin potions, and Demondrug potions too. Don't forget to eat food either!

To tailor your weapon to the fight, you'll need the Dragon element for extra damage. Also, upon completing Chapter 3-3, you'll unlock the Mending Mantle from Gemma for more healing.

Broken Chains walkthrough

Broken Chains objectives

  • Head to the lower stratum of Wyvern's Rest
  • Slay the Guardian Arkveld

After speaking with Nata you'll make your way to the lower stratum and experience one of the tougher Monster Hunter Wilds fights that we've been building up to since the start. After repelling the Guardian Arkveld in Chapter 3-1, you'll have an idea of what to expect already. But, that doesn't necessarily make this upcoming battle much easier.

Tips for the Guardian Arkveld Fight

Since our goal isn't to repel Arkveld this time, we're in for a longer fight to try and slay them. Considering Arkveld's mobility and difficult attacks to learn, it's worth using traps to try and create some wounds. This will help with staggering them so you can deal damage.

As I mentioned in Chapter 3-1, I like to focus on Arkveld's chainblades, since they're a pain and also a weak point. Occasionally they'll slowly recover from slamming their chainblades, which gives you a chance to deal damage. Otherwise, you can always use your environment to manipulate Arkveld.

Unlike the Chapter 3-1 fight, Arkveld will flee to other zones with endemic life you can use to turn the tide of battle, including Great Thunderbugs for paralysing or Lumps of Wyrmsbane if you're lucky. Like any guardian monster battle, use elemental slinger ammo to blow up crystal walls. Arkveld creates these walls whenever attacking with a glowing white aura. Some of these attacks also have a high-pitched sound before them as well.

A few attacks to be wary of are whenever Arkveld's chainblades are glowing red with Dragon energy. They'll start to do massive explosions forward and whip their chainblades creating explosive paths along the ground. You can typically strafe away or Superman dive for temporary invulnerability. For those who may not know, running away from a monster with your weapons sheathed and then dodging makes you dive.

Once you've slain the Guardian Arkveld, Chapter 3-4 and the Broken Chains main mission are complete. Continue onwards to the Chapter 3-5 Monster Hunter Wilds walkthrough to continue the story.
