How long is Monster Hunter Wilds?

The Monster Hunter Wilds main story plays out over six chapters cut up into two sections. If you try to rush through the main quest assignments, you'll eventually hit a wall where you have to grind Hunter Rank levels. This extends the game length because you won't be able to continue until you grind a bit.

With that in mind, Monster Hunter Wilds takes about 40 hours to beat the entire story. If you don't focus on completing side quests and optional quests, it'll take around this long. Reaching the credits takes about 20 hours and then another 20 to complete the rest of the story. You'll still probably want to spend the extra time doing those side and optional quests.

Skipping them will prevent you from unlocking cool Palico gadgets and support from NPCs at your Base Camp. Monster Hunter World players may recall having help from the Grimalkyne where you could cooperate to trap monsters. The characters among your expedition crew fill similar roles with some of them being especially unique.

Similarly, the Palico gadgets will help you perform better in battle with stronger heals, more damage, and even help getting monster parts. It's always a nice surprise when your Palico buddy grabs a monster part mid-fight like they're using one of those sticky hand toys.

Now if you're a completionist who likes to get every achievement, it'll clearly take much longer than those 40 hours. But I'm sure you already knew that. Monster Hunter Wilds has 50 achievements where many are outside of the main story. Which you can imagine significantly increases how long it takes to beat it. It has everything from reaching a large amount of zenny to simply playing with others online.
