Pursuit of Solitude walkthrough

Pursuit of Solitude objectives

  • Talk to Nata in the Plains Base Camp

Pursuit of the Solitude is another short main mission in Monster Hunter Wilds. Before you speak with Nata in the Windward Plains Base Camp, you'll want to prepare first. This is because the conversation with Nata immediately jumps into the Scarlet Forest for a new fight.

If you haven't already, I recommend upgrading your armour andmain weapon. While I prefer to focus on increasing my Defense, you can try to get Water Resistance for this fight. Otherwise, stock up on Nulberries so you're prepared for the Waterblight status effect. Once you're ready, talk to Nata and you'll be in the next main mission.

Beyond the Deluge walkthrough

Beyond the Deluge objectives

  • Head to the depths of the Scarlet Forest
  • Repel the Uth Duna
  • Talk to Olivia
    • Optional: Carve materials from the Uth Duna

Continue riding your Seikret through the flooded Scarlet Forest. You can try to grab slinger ammo along the way like Torch Pods or other resources. Eventually, you'll trigger a cutscene as you meet up with Olivia and commence the Uth Duna fight.

Tips for the Uth Duna fight

The good thing about fighting the Uth Duna this early despite its difficulty is that this is only a repel mission. Repel missions differ from normal hunts in that you're not actually trying to slay the monster. You just need to deal enough damage or meet a condition to scare them away.

One annoying thing about the Uth Duna is that it has a protective veil reducing your damage. Fortunately, there are a few areas they don't protect, like their mouth, which is a weak point. Otherwise, you have to whack away at their veil until it breaks. Make sure you get your damage in when it does, because the veil will regenerate.

Breaking their veil will also make it easier to target breakable parts. For example, their head, tail, and forelegs are breakable. Aside from getting resources, breaking monster parts will often weaken them. Unfortunately, one of Uth Duna's deadly attacks isn't related to those parts.

This attack is triggered when the Uth Duna performs a giant belly flop like a whale. It deals a lot of damage, risking a cart back to camp, but we have the luxury of environmental hazards to deal significant damage back. Once the Uth Duna flees, they'll end up at the dam where you can pull the Dam Rubble down.

The dam deals a good chunk of damage if you can land it on the Uth Duna. Otherwise, it'll still push them away, making them vulnerable temporarily. Outside of moments like these, you'll need to be careful of their mobility. Even for a large monster, the Uth Duna is surprisingly mobile when enraged, and this is only more dangerous if they don't have their veil weighing them down.

At a certain point, a cutscene will trigger and somehow, the Uth Duna ends up slain anyway. Here's your opportunity to carve some materials, speak with Olivia, and complete Beyond the Deluge. With Chapter 1-5 complete, we're now onto Chapter 2-1 to continue our Monster Hunter Wilds walkthrough.
