Chasing Change walkthrough
Chasing Change objectives
- Investigate the regions and raise your HR
Don't read too much into the investigation part of your objective. It's mainly about raising your Hunter Rank any way you can. The best way to increase your Monster Hunter Wilds Hunter Rank is by completing optional quests for high-rank monsters.
New side quests that target high-rank monsters also work too, since you'll gain experience from both completing a quest and successfully hunting a monster. The more difficult the monster, the more experience you'll get. However, you won't get quest rewards from monsters that are too high above your hunter rank. Looking at monsters on the map or via optional quests will have a warning if they're too high.

Your goal for Chasing Change is to reach Hunter Rank 15. Upon doing so, Alma will send you to Suja to speak with Fabius. This leads to the next main mission, Rendezvous.
Rendezvous walkthrough
Rendezvous objectives
- Talk to Fabius in Suja
Speaking with Fabius in Suju unlocks a new area that functions as a monster arena. This is the Wounded Hollow where you'll get your first encounter with a new monster variant from Monster Hunter 4. You can still prepare for the fight after this conversation.
Lurking Shadows walkthrough
Lurking Shadows objectives
- Talk to Fabius in Suja
- Head to the depths of the Wounded Hollow
- Hunt the Frenzied Nerscylla
The upcoming fight is a Nerscylla variant where all preparation is the same as when we fought them in Chapter 2-3. You'll need Antidotes, Energy Drinks, and Cleanser to nullify their many status effects. Their weakness is a bit unique, starting with the Fire element before changing to Thunder, making them then resistant to Fire.
Once you're ready, return to Fabius. You'll then end up in the Wounded Hollow where you can use a Makeshift Camp. If you haven't eaten food yet, you can use your Portable BBQ Grill to do so.
Tips for the Frenzied Nerscylla fight

As opposed to running through the same tips from the first time around, I'll save you time with a bulleted list of quick tips.
- Before aggroing Nerscylla, you can use a Ghillie Mantle to creep up for a sneak attack.
- Their stinger stab from beneath inflicts Sleep.
- Dodge to the side when they swing through the air. This attack inflicts Poison.
- Dodge to the side to avoid their extended pincer pinch. This attack also inflicts Poison, but it has a long recovery, making this weak point vulnerable.
- Their ranged web projectiles inflict Webbed, paralysing you. Beware of Nerscylla doing this back-to-back.
- You can mount Nerscylla, riding their head into pillars for a few hundred damage.
- Nerscylla is vulnerable to both trap types and Flash Pods.
Once you've completed your Frenzied Nerscylla hunt, you'll have finished Chapter 4-2 and the Lurking Shadows main mission. Continue onto the Chapter 4-3 walkthrough to continue your grind and discover another variant. Or you can return to the walkthrough hub for many of our guides.
