A Desolate Destination walkthrough
A Desolate Destination objectives
- Talk to Werner in Azuz
After your fight with Rey Dau, head back to the Oilwell Basin to speak with Werner. I recommend using your map to fast travel there quickly. Before speaking with Werner, you can prepare for the next monster even though there will be some time before your encounter.
Useful items to bring with you include Antidotes, Energy Drinks, and Cleansers. As usual, you get some of the necessary items via your Seikret during a hunt, but not often enough. Before your next fight, you'll have access to a camp, but not Gemma for upgrading. Therefore, make sure your gear is ready before continuing. Also, this upcoming fight against the Nerscylla features unusual, constantly changing elemental weaknesses - the Nerscylla's back is vulnerable to Fire, but at a certain point, it changes to Thunder, and they then become resistant to Fire.
Hopes of Home walkthrough
Hopes of Home objectives
- Follow Satesh
- Mount your Seikret
- Optional: Gather hot peppers
- Head to the top of the wall
- Hunt the Nerscylla
- Talk to Rove
- Optional: Finish your preparations
- Head higher

After speaking with Werner, follow Satesh into the Iceshard Cliffs where you'll set up a new Pop-up Camp. You'll then learn about using Hot Drinks or Heatmantle Bugs to deal with the cold conditions. Once you're ready, hop on your Seikret and travel deeper into the area. Eventually, you'll hear a voice speaking in the distance.
Tips for the Nerscylla fight

The Nerscylla can be an annoying fight if they hit you with their many status effects. For example, they shoot web balls that temporarily stun you. Or if you see them extend their two pincers, get out of the way before they poison you. But that's not all, they can even put you to sleep as well.
Nerscylla can also charge at you through the air or swing from the ceiling towards you. Once you get into their lair, the swing attack can lead to them falling and becoming vulnerable. But, they can intentionally go under the webbed floor to attack you from beneath. Due to the webbed flooring, you won't be able to use traps unless you lure them off it.
If you want to prioritise their weak point, you'll have to aim for their pincers. But, you can also break their giant purple stinger on top, their mantle, and their left claw. Or you can burn their back and make it vulnerable to thunder damage. However, this makes their back no longer vulnerable to fire.

Make sure you don't forget to save the Bound Lynian when Nerscylla flees the area. You can use your slinger or just press F while looking at them hanging in the air. Anti-climatically, they'll run off and you can continue your hunt.
Prepare for the next fight
After finishing your Nerscylla hunt, you'll have a little downtime before chasing the next monster down. Despite the objective telling you to finish your preparations, you'll have another opportunity to get ready. Continue progressing until you make it to the next Pop-up Camp location.
Once you finish speaking with the Avis Unit and resting, you can upgrade your gear with Gemma. Afterwards, resupply your potions, grab Cleanser, Dung Pods, and Flash Pods too. Fortunately, this next fight doesn't have as many status effects as the last.
Tips for the Hirabami fight

During the fight with Hirabami, it'll swap between flying, and fighting on the ground frequently. This can make it difficult depending on what weapon you're using, though there will be opportunities aplenty to knock the Hirabami out of the sky. This is why I recommended bringing Flash Pods, even though you will come across Flash Flies too.
In addition to Flash Flies, the second area the Hirabami goes to will have Vespoids. You can take them out to get Para Pods, which are great for paralysing a flying Hirabami. Otherwise, you'll still get a chance to hit them when they're flying - they tend to keep their tail close to the ground.
The main attack I'd watch out for is their projectiles, which are similar to the Nerscylla. Instead of webbing you, you'll get Frostblight, which also requires Cleanser to remove. Anytime a monster stuns you, it's always a risk that they follow up with a painful attack. With that said, the Hirabami's mouth becomes a temporary wound point after spitting.
Once your Hirabami hunt is over, you're done with Hopes of Home and Chapter 2-3. Continue to the Chapter 2-4 Monster Hunter Wilds walkthrough for more help. Or you can return to the walkthrough hub for many of our guides.
