An Unforseen Storm walkthrough

An Unforseen Storm objectives

  • Talk to Alma

Get all your preparations in before speaking with Alma as it'll lead into your next monster encounter. If you participated in the beta, you may be familiar with this upcoming fight. I recommend bringing Nullberries, Thunder Resistance, and Water or Ice damage if you can.

The Eye of the Storm walkthrough

The Eye of the Storm objectives

  • Head to the Wind's Gasp
  • Slay the Rey Dau

After speaking with Alma, you're immediately transported to the Windward Plains where a lightning storm is ongoing. Make your way to the objective marker at the Wind's Grasp for a cutscene and a battle.

Tips for the Rey Dau fight

Before fighting Rey Dau, it's worth noting that this is a slay hunt where you can't capture them. I've wasted Tranq Bombs plenty of times without realising it. However, you can still use a Pitfall Trap to set up opportunities. There's nothing more fun than placing explosive barrels near a trap or a sleeping monster.

All that aside, similar to the Rompopolo fight in Chapter 2-1, Rey Dau telegraphs many of their attacks. In the same way Rompopolo makes steam rise from the ground, you'll see static electricity where Rey Dau is attacking. While this mostly applies to ranged attacks, it especially applies to their strongest attack.

When you're not busy dodging, you can try breaking Rey Dau's head, which is also their weak point. A good way to do this is by targeting the wound that appears in their mouth after certain ranged attacks. Once you learn to look for it, it becomes a fun vulnerability to hit repeatedly.

Another attack to be wary of is when Rey Dau slides their wing along the ground toward you. When they're enraged, they'll slide toward you in a straight line before returning to do it again. You can strafe out of the way or dodge if needed. Upon reaching their final zone, you can use your slinger to drop a pillar onto them. Another fun trick is using Flash Pods to knock them out of the air, which works for many flying monsters in Monster Hunter Wilds.

Once you've slain Rey Dau, you'll get a cutscene completing The Eye of the Storm and Chapter 2-2. Make your way to the Chapter 2-3 Monster Hunter Wilds walkthrough for more useful tips. Or you can return to the walkthrough hub for many of our guides.
