Where to find Nerscylla

The Nerscylla is found in the Basin and Cliffs regions of Monster Hunter Wilds. The first time you'll run into the Nerscylla in the story of Monster Hunter Wilds is during the Chapter 2-3 main quest "Hopes of Home," which sees you exploring the Iceshard Cliffs for the first time. The Nerscylla is easiest to track in this region after the fact, and I've located it frequently in Areas 2, 3, and 4.
Nerscylla weaknesses

The Nerscylla's weak points are its head, belly, and stingers. You can also break the stingers along with its left claw and mantle. Physical damage works best, and we've outlined the most useful weapons for each respective body part in the 'Best weapon and armor' section below.
Fire Element damage is okay in this fight, and Thunder is effective if you break the Nerscylla's mantle first. The Nerscylla is totally resistant to Water and Dragon.
When it comes to status effects, be sure to use Paralysis to bring the Nerscylla's crawling to a halt. This means stocking up on Shock Traps. To keep the Nerscylla's WEbbed, Poison, and Sleep status effects at bay, bring Antidoes, Cleanser, Potions, Herbal Powders, and Energy Drinks.
Best weapon and armor to fight Nerscylla
Physical damage is the way to go with the Nerscylla, though you'll need to switch up your targeting tactics depending on what weapon you're carrying. When using a weapon that deals Cut Damage, aim for the Nerscylla's soft belly. If you prefer a weapon that deals Blunt Damage, attack the head. And if you've got a ranged Ammo Damage weapon, go for the stinger.
Use any weapons from the Lala Barina Tree during this fight to take advantage of the Paralysis they confer. The Jail Hammer I is also a solid Blunt weapon to have by your side.
I'd recommend crafting and wearing the Rompopolo armor set for this fight, since it'll give you Poison resistance and offer a nice respite from the Nerscylla's nasty pincers. The Comaqchi Accessory is also a good head armor that provides Sleep Resistance Level 1. You can get it by farming Comaqchis, which are the small mosquito-like monsters you can find on walls in the Iceshard Cliffs region.
Nerscylla tips and strategy
Below, we'll go in-depth with the main tips and overall strategy you need to beat the Nerscylla. Follow these hints closely to win the fight and claim the spoils of war with ease.

1. Prepare yourself for the Webbed, Poison and Sleep status effects.
The biggest challenge during this battle will be helping your hunter survive the many status effects that the Nerscylla throws your way. The Webbed effect, which occurs if you get hit with any of the Nerscylla's sticky web sacs, is relatively easy to avoid, but keep Cleanser handy or get ready to wiggle repeatedly if you're hit. Poison and Sleep are more troublesome, so be sure you have plenty of Antidotes and Energy Drinks assigned to your item bar before the fight begins.
2. Paralysis works well against the Nerscylla
The Nerscylla doesn't particularly play fair, what with all the status effects it sends your way. Fight fire with fire by using Paralysis, which will stifle its movement tremendously and keep it from wriggling above or beneath you. As previously mentioned, any of the Lala Barina weapons are great for this fight, and oddly appropriate since they were made from a spider as well. If you don't have any of those, rely on Shock Traps, or Paralysis bowgun ammo.
3. Attack the Nerscylla's pincers after it extends them forward
Long and sharp, the Nerscylla's pincers are deadly appendages, but also handy weak points that you should exploit whenever possible. The Nerscylla's pincer clamp attack, which sees the spider extends its pincers and keep them outwards for a short time, is a great opportunity to attack full-force. Keep piling on the pressure and eventually the Nerscylla will fall on its back after its taken enough damage - a great sign that the fight is going in your favour.
4. Watch out when the Nerscylla crawls beneath the webbed floor
The Nerscylla is a mobile opponent who will often climb above you, which is not a huge deal as you can simply fire your slinger or attack from afar if you're using a ranged weapon. What's more concerning is when it burrows under the webbed floor and you can see it beneath you. Don't ignore this telegraph - get out of the way lest its pincers stick you where you stand.
5. Be aware of the Nerscylla Hatchlings that litter the floor in the last half of the fight
Typically when you're nearing the end of the combat, the Nerscylla will retreat into a room filled with lots of hatchlings. These little spiders can be squashed in a single hit, but will occasionally swarm you and interrupt the flow of your attacks. Stomp them as best you can and focus on their mother. Killing Nerscylla Hatchlings is a great way to farm Monster Fluid, which you can use for crafting weapons and armour, so it's not a total waste of time to deal with them.
