Visions of Hope objectives

  • Talk to Nata

Before speaking with Nata, upgrade your gear and resupply as usual. Once you talk to Nata, you'll be on your way towards the next major fight. You'll want to bring Nulberries, Armorskin potions, and Demondrug potions. Unlike many other fights, you won't need traps or Flash Pods for this monster.

  • Slay Zoh Shia

Speaking with Nata leads directly into the Monster Hunter main mission and a cutscene. Once the cutscene ends, this triggers the Zoh Shia battle.

Tips for the Zoh Shia fight

Zoh Shia mimics many attacks from monsters like Jin Dahaad, Arkveld, Doshaguma, Nu Udra, and others. I've discussed before in our Monster Hunter Wilds walkthroughs how many monsters function as training. This ends up being a good example of how they prepare you.

First, Zoh Shia is a guardian, so they frequently produce crystals even though they look slightly different. Use slinger ammo like the Dragon Pods and Thundercrysts nearby to blow those crystals up. Anytime you hear the high-pitched ringing that you've heard in other guardian fights, you'll see new crystals form. Don't be surprised if they clutter the entire area and create chain explosions.

Watch for whenever Zoh Shia creates a white glow along the floor - this is a warning that those areas are going to explode. Examples of this glow include a line that runs from left to right in front of Zoh Shia, a claw swipe toward you, a 180 attack, and more. If you can't destroy the crystals, there's a decent chance Zoh Shia will when their head becomes inflamed.

The head becoming inflamed isn't always an enraged state, but it does result in Zoh Shia having many new fire attacks, such as a flame breath similar to Nu Udra that you can take advantage of. During this attack, you can try to sever Zoh Shia's tail. Other fire attacks include fireball projectiles and a large flame cone forward.

But that's not all, you'll now have guardian attacks, fire attacks, and lightning when Zoh Shia becomes jet black. Their lightning attacks will build Thunderblight if they hit you. Fortunately, when Zoh Shia first becomes jet black, they'll start a lightning storm and stand still. As long as you avoid the glowing floor hazards, you can deal some easy damage.

While Zoh Shia doesn't have weak points, you can still target certain body parts for breaking, such as their wings, head, forelegs, and tail. Similar to Jin Dahaad, they have a crystal outer layer you can destroy. But, that same layer will regenerate over time.

Surviving Zoh Shia's one-hit attack

A Monster Hunter Wilds screenshot shows Zoh Shia breathing fire in the distance as large ice walls form in the area.

Zoh Shia's one-hit attack doesn't have an obvious solution. Unfortunately, I didn't survive it my first time around, but I have a feeling it's similar to the Jin Dahaad battle in Chapter 3-2. You likely have to pull down the Shrine Fragments floating above, then hide behind them. What's confusing about this one-hit attack is Zoh Shia creates many large ice walls.

If you're anything like me, chances are you'll hide behind them and get burnt to a crisp. With that said, there's a lot of time to prepare for this attack. Your character will say something, Zoh Shia flies slightly away, creates walls, and begins breathing fire while dropping fireballs everywhere.

Once you've slain Zoh Shia, Chapter 3-5 and the main Monster Hunter Wilds mission is complete. I'd tell you this is the end of Monster Hunter Wilds, but we're not there yet even with the credit roll. Continue onto the Chapter 4-1 walkthrough once you're done with the credits. Or you can return to the walkthrough hub for many of our guides.
