Assassin's Creed Shadows: Where to find Cat Island
How to find Cat Island in AC Shadows and adopt new cats
Where is Cat Island in Assassin's Creed Shadows? There's plenty of animals in feudal Japan, but if you're a cat person, you might gravitate towards a place nicknamed Cat Island. As you might have guessed, it's a dedicated habitat for felines. Since you can have pets in AC Shadows, this is the place to go if you want to adopt a cat or two.
While it's technically a location you won't reach until further into the game, there's nothing stopping you from going there earlier if you know where to look. In this guide, we'll explain how to get to Cat Island in Assassin's Creed Shadows and the cats you'll be able to adopt if you go there.
Where to find Cat Island in Assassin's Creed Shadows
The actual name of Cat Island is Okishima, an island that you will find in the middle of Lake Biwa, which is to the northeast of the world map. It's in a region called Omi, which has an enemy level rating of 23, so you'll likely not be at an appropriate level until about 20 hours into the game.

The nearest locations to Okishima are either Hachiman, which is a village in The Shimmering Fields sub-region south of it, or the sub-region of Azuchi east and southeast of it. There are two eagle points in that area you can fast travel to.
Either way, you will still need to cross the lake to reach Okishima, but you can either swim or commandeer a raft. Note that in this area you're more likely to come across boats that you can't steer, and the people onboard will also attack you.
What can you find on Cat Island?
Once you reach Okishima, it should be evident why it has the nickname Cat Island. It's teeming with cats, although upon coming ashore you may also spot plenty of fish being dried on racks, which of course also makes sense.
You'll find two specific breeds of cats, a Calico Bobtail and a Tabby Bobtail. Be sure to pet each of them and then you can add them to your Hideout!

Cat Island is incidentally also the location of a mission called "The Wheel Turns" where you can potentially be rewarded with a unique pet, except instead of a cat, it's a dog called Fuji-Maru.
