Esperanza Blade

"A fully field-tested Hope Blade. With a single, mighty swing, cleave your way to a brighter future."

The Esperanza Blade is probably the most straightforward endgame Great Sword to craft, but its stats are more than respectable enough to keep it as your primary weapon of choice. The Esperanza Blade, like most Esperanza weapons, has tonnes of white sharpness to spare, and along with the Lv2 Speed Sharpening skill, it'll be no hassle at all to keep your blade white-sharp for the entire fight. The Lv2 Critical Eye skills provides you with a nice +8% affinity as a bonus, putting it more in line with the natural affinity of blades like the Rathalos Firesword. Affinity isn't terribly important for Great Swords, but it's nice to have. The main thing is damage, and the Esperanza Blade has very respectable raw damage in addition to its brilliant sharpness.
How to get Esperanza Blade:
The Esperanza Blade Great Sword is the final form of the Expedition tree. Here are the prerequisite crafting requirements:
- Hope Blade I: 200z
- Hope Blade II: 2x Iron Ore, 500z
- Hope Blade III: 3x Dragonite Ore, 2x Machalite Ore, 1500z
- Hope Blade IV: 4x Carbalite Ore, 4000z
- Hope Blade V: 4x Monster Hardbone, 5x Fucium Ore, 14000z
- Esperanza Blade: 5x Hunter Symbol I, 1x Bird Wyvern Gem, 20000z
Grimslayer Urgeom

"An upgraded Dosha Grimslayer. Its destructive impulses transform wielders into violence incarnate."

The Grimslayer Urgeom is a behemoth of a Great Sword. At 1200 Attack, its charged attack has the highest raw damage of any weapon in the game, and it also gives you Lv2 in Focus, which is one of the nicest Skills to have for a Great Sword as it cuts down on those massive charge-up times. The downside is a hefty -20% affinity, but this can (and should) be offset with Gems and other Skills to give you a phenomenally powerful weapon that can hammer anything in the game into submission.
How to get Grimslayer Urgeom:
The Grimslayer Urgeom Great Sword is the final form of the Guardian Doshaguma tree. Here are the prerequisite crafting requirements:
- Dosha Grimslayer II: 2x G. Doshugama Certificate S, 6x Guardian Doshaguma Claw+, 4x Guardian Doshaguma Fang+, 1x Guardian Blood+, 10000z
- Grimslayer Urgeom: 5x Hunter Symbol II, 6x Guardian Doshaguma Fur+, 6x Guardian Pelt+, 1x Beast Gem, 20000z
Düsterstolz

"An upgraded Schattenstolz. Each accursed slash beckons forth more demons to the revels."

The Düsterstolz is a powerful Dragon Element Great Sword which does just about everything extremely well. It has lots of white sharpness to spare, high attack even without the Dragon Element, and Lv3 in Critical Element, which gets significantly more use out of that extra Dragon damage than you'd have with other Dragon options like the Stalwart Lamorak. There's really nothing bad to say about this excellent endgame Great Sword, other than that it might take you a little bit more time to farm the parts you need from Gore Magala.
How to get Düsterstolz:
The Düsterstolz Great Sword is the final form of the Gore Magala tree. Here are the prerequisite crafting requirements:
- Valkyrie Blade I: 1x Rathian Certificate S, 3x Rathian Webbing, 2x Rathian Spike+, 5x Rathian Scale+, 5000z
- Red Wing I: 2x Rathalos Certificate S, 5x Rathalos Carapace, 4x Rathalos Wing, 1x Rath Medulla, 10000z
- Schattenstolz I: 3x Gore Magala Certificate S, 4x Gore Magala Ripclaw+, 1x Gore Magala Tail, 5x Frenzy Shard, 14000z
- Düsterstolz: 5x Hunter Symbol III, 2x Gore Magala Feeler+, 1x Gore Magala Nyctgem, 5x Frenzy Crystal, 20000z
