What is the best Bow in Monster Hunter Wilds? The Bow is a wonderful weapon in Monster Hunter Wilds. Agile, reliable, and close-range enough that you're still having as much fun as if you were tangling with a Rathian in melee. It's so strong, in fact, that it tops our best weapons tier list.

Bows are great for causing and targeting wounds, and for quickly building up elemental status effects. And some upgrades in the Bow weapon tree are better at this than others, so you should know what's what before you commit to a particular path.

In our guide below, we'll go over three of the very best Bows in Monster Hunter Wilds. These Bows feature best-in-class stats for their purposes, and we'll explore the strengths of each one so that you know which choice is best for your next hunt.

The Hunter's Stoutbow is found at the end of the Bone tree. Usually the downside of Bone-based weapons is the low sharpness, but of course on a Bow that doesn't apply. So you get to enjoy an easy-to-craft endgame weapon with very good raw damage, boosted a little further by its Lv1 Attack Boost Skill. Lv3 Focus is also wonderful to have on the Bow, as it allows you to unleash your devastating Dragon Piercer more quickly and reliably. The Hunter's Stoutbow may look simple, but it's an excellent Bow with no real downsides to speak of, and will serve you very will right into the endgame of Monster Hunter Wilds.

How to get Hunter's Stoutbow:

The Hunter's Stoutbow Bow is the final form of the Bone tree. Here are the prerequisite crafting requirements:

  1. Hunter's Bow I: 2x Mystery Bone, 500z
  2. Hunter's Bow II: 2x Sturdy Bone, 1x Monster Fluid, 800z
  3. Hunter's Bow III: 2x Tough Guardian Bone, 2600z
  4. Hunter's Bow IV: 4x Great Stoutbone, 2x Colossal Bone, 10000z
  5. Hunter's Stoutbow: 5x Hunter Symbol I, 5x Monster Hardbone, 1x Dragonbone Relic, 1x Beast Gem, 20000z

Griefbringer Urstox

"An upgraded Dosha Griefbringer. Its destructive impulses transform wielders into violence incarnate."

The Griefbringer Urstox kicks things up a notch with an Attack stat of 300, the highest of any Bow in the game (eclipsing the Hunter's Stoutbow's very respectable 276). The Griefbringer also enjoys some great Skills, particularly Lv2 in Ballistics to extend the ideal range of your Bow for more reliable damage. And if that weren't enough, it also allows you to insert two Lv3 gems for the most powerful possible weapon buffs. All this comes at the downside of a -15% affinity nerf, but after you've offset this as much as possible with Gems and Skills, you'll have a true monster of a Bow at hand.

How to get Griefbringer Urstox:

The Griefbringer Urstox Bow is the final form of the Guardian Doshaguma tree. Here are the prerequisite crafting requirements:

  1. Dosha Griefbringer II: 2x G. Doshaguma Certificate S, 6x Guardian Doshaguma Claw+, 4x Guardian Doshaguma Fang+, 1x Guardian Blood+, 10000z
  2. Griefbringer Urstox: 5x Hunter Symbol II, 6x Guardian Doshaguma Fur+, 6x Guardian Pelt+, 1x Beast Gem, 20000z

Strange Kut-Ku Stave

"An upgraded Kut-Ku Stave. Its blazing bolts prowl the skies, bringing down wyverns like birds."

The Strange Kut-Ku Stave offers truly excellent Fire damage, particularly with the Lv3 Charge Master Skill, which massively increases fire damage with your Dragon Piercer charged attack (which you should be using a lot, by the way). Its low base damage can be addressed with gems, but it was never intended to rival the Griefbringer for raw damage. It's a phenomenal weapon for dealing with water- and ice-based monsters like Jin Dahaad, Blangonga, and even Gore Magala.

How to get Strange Kut-Ku Stave:

The Strange Kut-Ku Stave Bow is the final form of the Yian Kut-Ku tree. Here are the prerequisite crafting requirements:

  1. Kut-Ku Stave I: 1x Yian Kut-Ku Certificate S, 3x Kut-Ku Wing, 2x Kut-Ku Ear, 5x Kut-Ku Scale+, 4000z
  2. Kut-Ku Stave II: 2x Nu Udra Certificate S, 4x Giant Beak, 4x Inferno Sac, 1x Bird Wyvern Gem, 14000z
  3. Strange Kut-Ku Stave: 5x Hunter Symbol I, 6x Kut-Ku Carapace, 1x Nu Udra Flamegem, 20000z
