Best Swords And Shields in Monster Hunter Wilds

There are 75 different Swords And Shields in Monster Hunter Wilds. But with so many different monsters out there to hunt, you don't want to waste time trying out a weapon you'll later end up ditching for something better

That's where we come in. If you want to find out about the very best Swords And Shields to wield, our top picks our below:

Lala Acanthopelm

The Lala Acanthopelm is a phenomenal Paralysis-based Sword and Shield option which has the most white sharpness of any SNS in the game. It also has naturally high affinity at 15%, which is very welcome for the fast-hitting Sword And Shield. It's also far from challenging to gather the parts you need to reach the end of the Lala Barina tree, so you can get your hands on this powerful endgame weapon without too much trouble.

How to get Lala Acanthopelm:

The Lala Acanthopelm Sword And Shield is the final form of the Lala Barina tree. Here are the prerequisite crafting requirements:

  1. Barina Dague III: 2x Lala Barina Certificate S, 5x Lala Barina Mucus+, 3x Lala Barina Claw+, 4000z
  2. Barina Dague IV: 3x Monster Hardbone, 6x Lala Barina Floret+, 4x Lala Barina Stinger+, 14000z
  3. Lala Acanthopelm: 5x Hunter Symbol I, 6x Lala Barina Carapace, 4x Monster Broth, 1x Bird Wyvern Gem, 20000z

Queen Rapier

The Rathian-based Queen Rapier maintains a good amount of white sharpness and 15% affinity, but boosts your base damage even further beyond the Lala Acanthopelm (albeit not by much). It's also one of the very best weapons in the game for quickly inflicting poison on a monster, making it fantastic against monsters weak to that particular status ailment, such as Xu Wu and Hirabami. It's a very solid Sword and Shield that can tear through a lot of endgame enemies without difficulty.

How to get Queen Rapier:

The Queen Rapier Sword And Shield is the final form of the Rathian tree. Here are the prerequisite crafting requirements:

  1. Princess Rapier I: 1x Rathian Certificate S, 3x Rathian Webbing, 2x Rathian Spike+, 5x Rathian Scale+, 5000z
  2. Princess Rapier II: 2x Rey Dau Certificate S, 6x Rathian Carapace, 1x Rath Medulla, 1x Wyvern Gem, 14000z
  3. Queen Rapier: 5x Hunter Symbol I, 5x Rathian Scale+, 1x Rathian Ruby, 20000z

Titan's Armament

"An upgraded Gravios Syphos. Each strike yields a blast, and the heavy shield affords absolute defense."

Titan's Armament, made from Gravios parts, delivers the highest raw damage of any Sword And Shield, and also the highest defence thanks to its natural +30 Defense Bonus and its Lv3 Guard Up Skill. It makes the Shield incredibly tanky while blocking, and also allows you to output massive damage - particularly with the addition of its Blast Element. The downside is a -15% affinity, which you can correct with the right Gems and Skills; and the fact that it only goes up to blue sharpness instead of white - which is a slight drawback, but by no means a dealbreaker considering the sheer damage it outputs. This is one of the fastest and most enjoyable ways I've found to quickly destroy monsters with consistent raw damage.

How to get Titan's Armament:

The Titan's Armament Sword And Shield is the final form of the Gravios tree. Here are the prerequisite crafting requirements:

  1. Gravios Syphos I: 2x Gravios Certificate S, 5x Gravios Wing, 3x Gravios Skull, 4x Gravios Pleura+, 10000z
  2. Titan's Armament: 5x Hunter Symbol II, 6x Gravios Carapace, 1x Gravios Medulla, 1x Wyvern Gem, 20000z
