What is the best Light Bowgun in Monster Hunter Wilds? The Light Bowgun is a familiar sight in Monster Hunter; immense ranged firepower in a lightweight package that still allows mobility while you fight, rather unlike its bulkier brethren. By now you've likely taken a glance at the Light Bowgun weapon tree and seen just how many Monster Hunter Wilds has to offer you, but we're here to help you narrow down the choice a little.

From 66 options, we've narrowed it down to a shortlist of just three of the very best Light Bowguns in Monster Hunter Wilds right now. Each of these LBGs is a final-form upgrade, armed to the teeth with the very best damage stats, skills, and magazine types in the game. Let's explore them.

I tend to gravitate towards flat damage with my Bowguns, and the Gigasbreaker Urbolkule hits harder than any other Light Bowgun in the game. It's made from Guardian Doshaguma parts, which can be a bit of a pain to collect, but once you've crafted it the high attack, Lv3 Slugger Skill, Lv3 Spread Ammo, and Adhesive Special Ammo speak for themselves. You can tear through pretty much anything in the game with the Gigasbreaker, as long as you offset the -15% affinity with Gems and Skills elsewhere.

How to get Gigasbreaker Urbolkule:

The Gigasbreaker Urbolkule Light Bowgun is the final form of the Guardian Doshaguma tree. Here are the prerequisite crafting requirements:

  1. Dosha Gigasbreaker II: 2x G. Doshaguma Certificate S, 6x Guardian Doshaguma Claw+, 4x Guardian Doshaguma Fang+, 1x Guardian Blood+, 10000z
  2. Gigasbreaker Urbolkule: 5x Hunter Symbol II, 6x Guardian Doshaguma Fur+, 6x Guardian Pelt+, 1x Beast Gem, 20000z

Faithbreaker Leibolkule

The Faithbreaker Leibolkule runs along very similar lines, sacrificing a small amount of the Gigasbreaker's damage in exchange for only -5% affinity to offset. It also provides Lv3 Normal Ammo, which may be preferable to you over the Spread Ammo for many circumstances. Lv3 Opening Shot is also a great bonus that provides you with a lot of extra damage over the course of a fight. It's an easy, straightforward choice of Light Bowgun that deals tonnes of damage with very little downside.

How to get Faithbreaker Leibolkule:

The Faithbreaker Leibolkule Light Bowgun is the final form of the Doshaguma tree. Here are the prerequisite crafting requirements:

  1. Hope Rifle I: 200z
  2. Hope Rifle II: 2x Iron Ore, 500z
  3. Dosha Faithbreaker I: 3x Doshaguma Fur, 2x Doshaguma Claw, 1x Doshaguma Fang, 800z
  4. Dosha Faithbreaker II: 1x Guardian Doshaguma Claw, 3x Doshaguma Hide, 1x Tough Guardian Bone, 2600z
  5. Dosha Faithbreaker III: 2x Doshaguma Certificate S, 6x Doshaguma Claw+, 4x Doshaguma Fang+, 10000z
  6. Faithbreaker Leibolkule: 5x Hunter Symbol II, 6x Doshaguma Hide+, 1x Beast Gem, 20000z

Wahnschleuder

If you want to take a slightly different path with your Light Bowgun, I recommend giving the Wahnschleuder a try. Fashioned from Gore Magala parts, it has quite low raw damage compared to the other two in this list, but it's phenomenal at exploiting monsters' elemental weaknesses thanks to its Element Boost Magazine and the synergy between a +20% baseline affinity and the Lv3 Critical Element Skill. If you're hunting a monster that's very weak to a particular element, the Wahnschleuder will make mincemeat of it.

How to get Wahnschleuder:

The Wahnschleuder Light Bowgun is the final form of the Gore Magala tree. Here are the prerequisite crafting requirements:

  1. Valkyrie Fire I: 1x Rathian Certificate S, 3x Rathian Webbing, 2x Rathian Spike+, 5x Rathian Scale+, 5000z
  2. Rathling Gun I: 2x Rathalos Certificate S, 5x Rathalos Carapace, 4x Rathalos Wing, 1x Rath Medulla, 10000z
  3. Fäulnisschleuder I: 3x Gore Magala Certificate S, 4x Gore Magala Ripclaw+, 1x Gore Magala Tail, 5x Frenzy Shard, 14000z
  4. Wahnschleuder: 5x Hunter Symbol Ill, 2x Gore Magala Feeler+, 1x Gore Magala Nyctgem, 5x Frenzy Crystal, 20000z
